What a night!

So yesterday was the first ever public appearance of Mr Gay Namibia 2011 and his First runner up at the Playhouse theater for a show commemorating world AIDS day. It was truly an experience. We were entertained by various artists with some excellent poems being read and an amazing performance by Vocal Motion Six. There were a few well known faces as well as a very diverse group in attendance. But i must admit one of the highlights was when we personally met and spoke with a wonderful, amazing, supportive woman that we were able to meet in person. Ambassador Wanda L. Nesbitt, Ambassador of the United States to Namibia.

Ambassador Nesbitt is truly a remarkable woman and we had a wonderful chat with her surrounding not only our community, but the general issues faced by everyone in our situation. Together with her staff, the artists and the general public this is a show that I will remember forever. Great jobs guys!

Pictures will be mailed to us from the embassy and then they will be posted. So watch this space!

MR Gay Namibia 2011 Winners.

The news is out!!!! After a wonderful evening of glitz and glammer, the final contestants was chosen for MR Gay Namibia 2011. But before I announce them, lets give you an idea of what was going on that night.

The contestants were stationed in the back dressing room as the hall filled with supportive public members. It was packed ladies and gentlemen! The MC (Master of ceremonies) did and excellent job entertaining the crow as we got ready to start the evening with our opening speeches. I have to admit. At that moment every last bit of nerve in the body was slowly starting to break. Going up there as the first ever finalists for the first ever MR GAY NAMIBIA was really an experience that I will never forget. The setup was amazing. The organisation of the vent a major success. We had fun, we had laughter and we had a really really awesome time. The dance was energetic and vibrant and the catwalks shone brightly as we went to strut our stuff! We had to sell ourselves and we sold like crazy. he he he. But nonetheless the end drew near and it was time to announce the winners.

2nd runner up - All the way from Aranos - Ryno du Plessis.

1st runner up - From Windhoek - Herman Feddersen

Mr Gay Namibia - From Windhoek - Wendelinus Hamutenya.

Congratulations to all the contestants. We did it! We are the first and we are the ones that made this happen! And a HUGE thank you to all the organisers, supporters, donors, the public and everyone that attended the event as well as those that couldn't be there but kept us in their thoughts! Without you this event would not have been what it was. A major success.

Kind regards
Herman Feddersen (1st runner up for Mr Gay Namibia 2011)

It was not possible to even think about such an event some ten years ago, but on Saturday (26 November) a long-felt dream will come true for a minority group that feels largely ostracised and discriminated against by Namibian society. Not women, not the San, not Germans and not RDP members – it is the gay community which is holding their first ‘Mr Gay Namibia’ competition in Windhoek.
The search for the first Mr Gay is on and judges will have a difficult task to choose a man who will represent the Namibian gay community. The pageant will consist of two fashion show rounds, a smart casual and swimwear competition.
Chris de Villiers said that the mission of the event is to create a positive image of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, and to promote a Namibian society where all people are equally accepted as human beings.
The role of the first Mr Gay is to be a role model for all gays in the country: “A person who is prepared to stand up for gay rights and serve as an ambassador of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and Inter-sex (LGBTI) community. He will attend social and welfare functions and network with international like-minded organizations to help create awareness.
The grand finale will take place on 26 November at Windhoek’s Event Square (Corner Bismarck & Dr Kulz Street-near Game), starting at 18h00. The winner will compete in the ‘Mr Gay World’ competition in South Africa next year.

Time comes near for MR GAY NAMIBIA finals.

The time for the Final event of the first ever MR GAY NAMIBIA is drawing near. The workshop was a very important part in the preparation for the final event. A lot of hard work and effort went into the workshop. The contestants met each other or the very first time and immediately bonds of friendship were formed. As we got to know each other, we realised our purpose and goal for why we were all there. In each his own, we were all there for the same reason yet each as his own individual. Diversity was celebrated as we got to know each other, who we are, where we came from and our various outlooks on life. Strict rules were laid down and followed, advice freely given, support provided, educational information supplied, assistance rendered.
It was hectic but it was fun. It was truly a unique experience and as the weekend came to an end, we realised that we met as strangers and parted as friends. Not only for the contestants but for the organisers and judges as well. We were a group. We were individuals and we were friends.
All I can say is that it was truly a privilege and an honour that I could share that experience.
A very big round of applause and congratulations not only to the contestants for being the first ever in Namibia to attempt and part of this, but also to all the organisers, judges and each and every individual who contributed to the current success of the workshop and the success of the finals this weekend. Good luck to each and every contestant. Remember, we are the one's who started this. We are the ambassadors that everyone will remember and look up to. So be yourself and just have fun. We are all winners. We made it this far. And we can be proud!

When You Type @+[251859230739:0] on Facebook It Turns Into "I’m Gay"

Here's something strange. When you type in @+[251859230739:0] on Facebook, the characters transform and become "I'm gay" once you post it. What in the world? What's going on?

MSNBC noted this little exploit and discovered the reason behind it. Here's how it would work on Facebook. First, instructions like this would pop up on your friend's wall:

‎1. Copy this: @+[251859230739:0]
 2. Paste it as a comment below.
 3. Delete the "+" sign.
 4. Press "Enter."

And then people would blindly follow it and suddenly see "I'm Gay" attached to their posted comment. Har har. Is this some sort of sick joke? Pretty much.

The reason this is happening is because the number string within the brackets is actually the id for a Facebook page. So in the case of "I'm Gay", the 251859230739 is in reference to the actual I'm Gay Facebook page. It reads the numbers as the title of the page and flips your string into words. It's like the backend of when you tag someone. And with this trick, you can basically make anybody say anything as long as there's a Facebook page for it (and if they're sucker enough to fall for it). Just replace '251859230739' with whatever number string that identifies the title you'd want to use and you control their Facebook.

This Isn’t an Animation

Have you ever wondered what the visuals look like on hallucinogens? This isn't far off (um, I've read). This is not an animated gif, and nothing is actually moving. It's all in your head. Your trippy, trippy head.

Sadly, I do not know who created this incredible optical illusion—I lost the trail somewhere in the bramble of the internet. But whomever he or she is deserves high praise. You can focus on one swirl and it's stationary, but the other swirls in your periphery start to undulate and twist. Switch to another one, and the same thing is repeated. It's exquisitely executed. I should warn, however, that if you're actually on acid, you will either see nothing moving at all, or the effect will be so powerful that your mind will turn to tapioca. Consider yourself warned. Thanks to Gregger for the tip.

A Crazy Woman Kept a Rotting Vegetable in Her Fridge for Two Years Because She Thought It Was an Alien

Marta Yegorovnam, who I'm assuming is either a lunatic or an evil prankster, says she has kept an alien corpse in her refrigerator for two years. Apparently, she found this green alien after a UFO crashed right outside her house.

To her credit, this 'alien' does look like a descendant of Jabba the Hutt so maybe her Star Wars love incepted her to believe such foul creatures really exist. But even if this green blob was an alien from outer space, and it most definitely isn't, what in the world was it doing in Yegorovnam's fridge for two years? Did she think it'd be safe there? Did she think her food would be safe with a dead alien rotting next to it? Did she open the fridge door and talk to it when she was lonely? Is there no sane logic in insane people?

Yegorovnam is from the western Russian city of Petrozavodsk and has said that when she found the thing, it was next to a burning UFO that was 'unbearably hot'. Right. As Jabba-ish as this blubber gets—and the oversized head, poop shaped body and permanent scowl are all very Jabba-like—it's probably nothing more than a rotten vegetable—zucchini? cucumber? In fact, we all probably have a few rotting veggies cum alien lying in the back of our fridges too.

Pussy Energy Drink.......WTF

Pussy is a 100% natural drink. No nasty chemicals and nothing manufactured. It is made for people looking for a natural alternative.

The name Pussy shocks and demands attention - that's the point. Inhibition is a recipe for mediocrity. This is a premium energy drink named with confidence.

Pussy believes in natural energy - because it's better for you.

Also available in Namibia..... NOOOOOOO! LOL

MR Gay Namibia 2012

With the Mr Gay Namibia 2012 finals coming up soon all eyes are on the extravagant event! The contestants are getting more excited and the final arrangements are being made. Being the first ever event like this in Namibia, it's already a huge step towards LGBT acceptance, understanding and support. We at moffie and I (as a finalist myself) would like to wish all finalists good luck with the event. Also a great round of applause for the organisers who have the massive task ahead of them to arrange this event. And to all the sponsors, we may not know who you all are, but no words can describe the appreciation and thanks for your support, understanding and sponsorship!

Moffie will continue to follow the progress and update as the event unfolds. Once again good luck to everyone. It's time to be loud and proud!
